PRIMORSKY TERRITORY, September 26 (RIA Novosti) — Russia's Eastern Military District troops are on their way home after taking part in massive Vostok-2014 war games in the country's Far East, the Defense Ministry said early Friday.
"Troops with the Eastern Military District, Pacific Fleet, Air Force, Long-Range and Transport Aviation are now on their way to the loading points to then travel by rail, sea and air [to their home bases], while the aircraft are regrouping to head for their air bases, and Pacific Fleet vessels are also regrouping…," the Defense Ministry's statement said.
The Vostok-2014 strategic military exercise in the Eastern Military District was scheduled to take place on September 19-25. The exercise was preceded by snap combat readiness checks.
Military units from China, North Korea, Venezuela, Peru, Angola and Zimbabwe also participated in the war games. The maneuvers were carried out on the island of Sakhalin, the Kamchatka Peninsula, Chukotka, and the southern part of the Primorsky Territory, all in Russia's Far East.
