Israeli law enforcement agencies detained a total of 15 people in the West Bank on suspicion of terrorism, as well as of violent activities disturbing peace, local media reported Sunday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) According to The Jerusalem Post, the detentions have been carried out by the officers from the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), and border police.

The news outlet added that at least two servicemen were injured during the raids after explosive devices had been thrown at Israeli troops.

In recent weeks the tensions between Israel and the Palestinians have escalated in Jerusalem and the West Bank. The escalation took place soon after Israel introduced new security measures at the entrances to the Temple Mount, the third most important holy site in Islam.
