MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The materials he filmed and his camera were confiscated, RT said.
"He was filming a piece on Iraqi militias persecuting Sunnis. He has already been released," the channel said.
The stringer, Bzurk Muhammad, was detained in the city of Tuz Khurmatu to the south of the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk, the media added.
The militia tried to use force against the crew and brought it to a police station, Muhamad said, as cited by the channel.
According to the reporter, the crew was released some two hours after the detention. The camera's memory card was destroyed by the militia, Muhammad added.
