Cooperation between Syria and Iraq against the terrorist group of Daesh is expanding day by day, Col. Usama Khaddur, the head of the political department of the Syrian Army told Sputnik.

DAMASCUS (Sputnik) – The expansion of cooperation will benefit the armies and nations of the both countries, he added.

"This cooperation and coordination ramps up daily and has already brought a lot of positive results. We look forward to further success and hope that this cooperation will continue and strengthen in the future," the military official said.

"We are constantly in contact, and coordination continues on the most highest level," Khaddur said.

In February, Baghdad conducted airstrikes against Daesh strongholds on the Syrian territory bordering Iraq under a deal with Damascus. The sides agreed to continue the cooperation on counter-terrorism.
