"The evacuation will likely take several more days to complete. In terms of numbers, so far about 25,000 people have been evacuated from Eastern Aleppo — 40 buses remain inside right now awaiting to evacuate more people," Victoria Zotikova said.
She stressed that ICRC would continue its work to help the wounded and sick people.
"The evacuations of civilians and wounded from East Aleppo has been ongoing and SARC [Syrian Arab Red Crescent] and ICRC will continue to work around the clock to ensure that all those who want can leave as soon as possible, and will continue to give priority to the most urgent cases, such as the injured and sick," Zotikova said.
The UN Security Council draft resolution on monitoring Syria's Aleppo evacuations should help to protect civilians and ensure the evacuation process is not politicized, the International Committee of the Red Cross said.
"While separate and distinct from what we are doing, such an international monitoring system should help strengthen the protection of civilians during these or similar operations. It's important that these evacuations are not put in jeopardy by being politicized," ICRC said.
