ALEPPO (Sputnik) — A source from Syrian militia told RIA Novosti that the Syrian army initiated an artillery attack on the remaining terrorists' positions in eastern Aleppo.
"During terrorists' mortar attack of Bustan al-Qasr and Mogambo districts 4 people died, more than 50 injured were hospitalized," the representative of the hospital said.
Since 2012, Aleppo, formerly the largest city in Syria, has been heavily involved in the conflict between the government forces and militants, which led to the city eventually divided into the western districts held by the government and regularly attacked by the militants holding on to the eastern districts.
On Tuesday, the Russian reconciliation center said that the Syrian government army was controlling over 98 percent of the territory of Aleppo, with militants present in less than 1 square mile of the city's territory.
