The Saudi-led coalition killed a military commander of the Yemeni Republican Guard loyal to former country's President Ali Abdullah Saleh in an airstrike, media reported.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The airstrike was conducted in the northern Yemeni province of Saada, the Al Arabiya broadcaster said Tuesday.

Since 2014, Yemen has been engulfed in a military conflict between the government of Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi and the Houthi fighters, supported by army units loyal to Saleh.

Since March 2015, the Saudi-led coalition of mostly Persian Gulf countries has been carrying out airstrikes against the rebels.
