    Russia, Pakistan Have Common Approach to Combating Daesh - Foreign Ministry

    Russia and Pakistan share a common approach to the fighting against Daesh terrorist organization, Russian Foreign Ministry said Tuesday.

    MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Earlier in the day, the sixth meeting of the Russia-Pakistan Working Group on Combating International Terrorism and other security challenges was held in Moscow. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov and his Pakistani counterpart Tasnim Aslam headed the states' delegations.

    "During the meeting [the sides] discussed the relevant issues in the sphere of countering international terrorism, including preventing terrorist acts and suppressing terrorist funding. Common approaches to the fight against the IS and other leading international terrorist groups," the foreign ministry said in a statement.

    According to the statement, the sides exchanged their views on the ways of preventing the further spread of terrorist ideas and considered the present state of the terrorist threat in various regions, including Afghanistan, South Asia and the Middle East.

    On Monday, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov and Aslam discussed arms control and non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction during a consultative group meeting in Moscow.
