UNITED NATIONS (Sputnik) — Ban cited Physicians for Human Rights advocacy group claiming that 95 percent of medical workers in Aleppo either fled the city or were detained or killed.
"This morning we awoke to reports of strikes on two more hospitals in Aleppo. Let us be clear. Those using ever more destructive weapons know exactly what they are doing. They know they are committing war crimes," Ban said, addressing the UN Security Council.
In May, the UN Security Council adopted resolution 2286 condemning attacks on medical institutions in the countries with ongoing conflicts and requiring the warring parties to ensure safety of humanitarian personnel.
