    Qatar Airways confirmed Thursday that its aircraft carried out an emergency landing in Istanbul, confirming that all passengers had disembarked.

    MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Earlier in the day media reports emerged claiming that the incident occurred when the plane’s engine caught fire after takeoff.

    "Qatar Airways can confirm that today’s QR240 from Istanbul Ataturk Airport (IST) to Doha (DOH) has returned to Istanbul safely. The passengers have disembarked as normal," the company said in a statement on Twitter.

    According to the statement, the pilot followed all quick response safety procedures.
