At least 14 people were killed Sunday as Daesh attacked a gas processing plant north of the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, the Sky News Arabia channel reported.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the channel citing security sources, an extremist wearing an explosive belt managed to enter the plant, detonating himself in a storage facility for empty gas canisters. Around 20 workers of the plant were seriously burnt.

Eight policemen were among the casualties of the attack.

Daesh, a terrorist group outlawed in Russia, the United States and many other countries, seized vast territories in Syria and Iraq. A US-led coalition of more than 60 nations has been carrying out airstrikes against the group in both countries since 2014.
