MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Unitd Nations and its partners have delievered humanitarian aid to nearly 110,000 civilians in besiged and hard-to-reach areas in Syria in just one week, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

"According to the analysis that’s been done, there has been a modest but real progress regarding the humanitarian situation in Syria," de Mistura told reporters.

Syria has been in a state of civil war since 2011, with the government forces fighting several opposition factions and militant groups. The conflict has significantly damaged the country's economy and caused a humanitarian disaster.

According to the United Nations, about 4.6 million of people are in need of unconditional, unimpeded and sustained humanitarian access in the crisis-torn country.
