DAMASCUS (Sputnik) – Militants from the Daesh terrorist group, whose activities are prohibited in numerous countries including the United States and Russia, have forbidden residents from the city of Raqqa from leaving the city regardless of their reason for travel, a Raqqa resident told Sputnik on Friday.
The Syrian city of Raqqa is considered the Daesh's capital.
The reasoning for the prohibition on movement is unclear, according to the resident. He added that a large number of residents had already left the city because of large price hikes on food and fuel.
The source said that the militants allowed everyone to leave Raqqa earlier, with the exception of young men.
