Syria's Homs Province Ready For Parliamentary Elections - Court Official
DAMASCUS (Sputnik) — The Higher Judicial Committee for Elections (HJCE) will not hinder the international observers to monitor the upcoming parliamentary elections if the Syrian Foreign Ministry approves their activities, the chairman of the HJCE told Sputnik on Tuesday.

"If someone, either from the friendly countries or the other ones, wants to observe and to attend the elections, it is not prohibited. The issue [of observance] should be agreed with the Foreign Ministry. Similarly, multiple foreign media arrived in Syria to cover the elections in coordination with the Ministry of Information," Hisham Shaar said.

On February 22, Syrian President Bashar Assad issued a decree calling for parliamentary elections in the country on April 13.
