    Syrian President Bashar Assad appealed with a letter to restore the ancient city of Palmyra to the United Nations organisation.

    MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Syrian President Bashar Assad called on the appropriate agencies in the United Nations through a letter addressed to Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to restore the ancient city of Palmyra, Syria’s SANA news agency reported Wednesday.

    “The president called on the secretary general to apply effort together with UN agencies to help the Syrian government restore the ancient city of Palmyra,” the news agency said, citing the letter.
