BEIRUT (Sputnik) – At least 13 civilians died and 40 were wounded in artillery shelling by terrorist groups at a northern residential district of Aleppo in northwestern Syria, a military source told RIA Novosti.
"The terrorists opened heavy fire on the Sheikh Maksoud neighborhood in Aleppo. Thirteen civilians were killed, 40 people were hospitalized with injuries," the source said.
The largest city in Syria has been subject to intense shelling since the ceasefire between government and rebel forces came into force on February 27.
The Nusra Front terrorist group, exempt alongside the Islamic State from the Russia-US brokered ceasefire, is believed to be behind the latest attack.
