MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Two Palestinians have been fatally shot after stabbing an Israeli soldier near the city of Nablus in the West Bank, local media reported on Sunday.
According to The Times of Israel newspaper, another Israeli serviceman has been lightly hit by gunfire. Both soldiers were subsequently hospitalized.
The media added that earlier in the day, four Palestinians have been detained while one Israeli soldier has been injured in four similar incidents.
The attacks on Sunday are the latest in a series of deadly stabbing incidents attributed to the Palestinian-Israeli tensions since mid-September.
Palestinians are seeking the recognition of their independent state on the territories of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, an area partially, and many consider illegally, occupied by Israel.
