MOSCOW (Sputnik) – According to the Press TV broadcaster, some 11 percent of those registered are women.
Some 5,405 candidates were registered during the previous elections, held in 2012. Over 3,300 of them were admitted to the actual elections. Only 9 of those elected into the parliament were women.
Parliamentary elections are scheduled to be held in Iran on February 26, 2016. The new parliament will consist of 290 members who will be in power for four years.
