MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The Iraqi delegation will not visit Egypt to persuade Cairo to take part in the work of the Baghdad Information Center, an adviser to the Iraqi defense ministry told Sputnik.

Earlier, media reports emerged claiming that Iraqi consultants on national security would depart for Egypt in the coming days to discuss the details of Cairo joining the information and coordination center.

"The quadripartite coalition is limited to four states parties. Egypt has no desire to join it," Nuri Mohammed stated.

At the same time, preparation for the visit of an Iraqi military delegation to Egypt is indeed underway, he noted.

"However, the delegation will hold talks on bilateral relations, military cooperation and the fight against terrorism… The issue of joining the coalition by Cairo is not on the delegation’s agenda. It is not expected in the future as well," the adviser stressed.

In late September, Russia, Syria, Iraq and Iran created the Baghdad Information Center to coordinate joint military actions against the Islamic State militant group. The four countries are represented by officers of the national armed forces, whose primary task is to collect and analyze data related to IS activities in the region.
