3 Palestinians Killed, Nearly 100 Wounded Amid 'Day of Rage'

3 Palestinians have been killed in clashes with Israeli security forces on Friday's 'day of rage', with 98 reported wounded.

The Palestinian Health Ministry has reported that in addition to the dead, nearly 100 were wounded, some by gunfire, after Israeli forces opened fire on demonstrators, Israeli news hub Ynetnews reports. 

Medical services reported that at least two of the Palestinians was shot dead, with another 11 wounded by gunfire. Many of the rest were reported to have inhaled smoke and tear gas.

'Day of Rage' violence broke out in Ramallah, Hebron, Bethlehem, Nablus and Tulkarm shortly following the end of Friday prayers.

A wave of violence, including several deadly attacks which Israel has characterized as terrorism, has struck Israel in the past weeks following clashes between Israelis and Palestinians at East Jerusalem's Temple Mount holy site in September. Since the beginning of the month, at least 36 Palestinians, as well as 7 Israelis, have been killed. 

The core of the conflict is believed to be a struggle over land. Palestinians are seeking the diplomatic recognition of their independent state on the territories of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip.
