MOSCOW (Sputnik) —A Chinese naval forces ship arrived in the Yemeni port of Aden to evacuate Chinese citizens and diplomats from the conflict-torn country, Arabic TV channel Al Mayadeen said Sunday.
Yemen is currently suffering from political unrest and clashes between Houthi rebels and forces loyal to the ousted President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi.
On Saturday, Saudi Arabia evacuated 86 Arab and Western diplomats from Yemen, with the UN pulling its staff out of the country's capital Sanaa as well. On the same day, Pakistan announced preparations to immediately evacuate its citizens.
Saudi Arabia is leading the coalition of countries conducting airstrikes on the positions of Houthi militants in Yemen. The air strikes started on Wednesday upon the request from Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, who has fled the country amid hostilities.
The United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Jordan, Morocco, Sudan, Pakistan and Egypt form the coalition, alongside Saudi Arabia, with the United States providing intelligence, targeting and logistical support.
