Air raid of southwest Syria's Quneitra province killed 120 Nusra Front gunmen, among them three field commanders, a Lebanon-based news channel reported.

BEIRUT (Sputnik) — Syrian Air Force jet fighters destroyed the Nusra Front militant group's headquarters and training camp near the Golan Heights, Al-Manar television reported Sunday.

The Lebanon-based news channel cited sources as saying the air raid of southwest Syria's Quneitra province killed 120 gunmen, among them three field commanders.

The Syrian army has been engaged on three fronts since the start of its internal conflict four years ago. Apart from the Nusra Front, government forces have been fighting numerous opposition fighters and the extremist Islamic State group.

The airstrike was carried out late Saturday as the group concluded its military training exercises.

Earlier in the week, the Nusra Front put to rest speculation of a rift with al-Qaeda by issuing a statement reaffirming its allegiance to the terrorist organization.

The UN estimates more than 200,000 have died in the ongoing violence.
