Mexican Authorities Seize Batch of Fake Vaccine Imitating Sputnik V

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Mexican authorities have seized a batch of a vaccine, the design and packaging of which was a fake, mimicking Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine, the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) said.

"Earlier today Mexican authorities seized a batch of vaccines designed and packaged as Sputnik V", the fund said.

The RDIF expressed gratitude to the Mexican government, customs authorities, and the country's armed forces for seizing the fake vaccine.

The International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) previously reported that there are hundreds of fake COVID-19 vaccines across the world, issuing a global alert for law enforcement agencies in member countries, warning them to prepare for physical and online COVID-19 crime networks.
