MEXICO (Sputnik) — On Sunday, Macri visited the city of Concordia in the province of Entre Rios, which has been the most affected by heavy rains that had hit four South American countries on December 18.
"We need to make final decisions, the government will pay for about 66 percent of the flood damage to reconstruct buildings," Macri said, as quoted by the La Nacion news portal.
According to the Argentinian president, the authorities will also allocate some $1.4 million to increase the height of protective structures in Concordia by three feet.
About 10,000 citizens have been evacuated in Argentina due to the severe flooding.
In total, the natural disaster caused at least 170,000 people in Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and Brazil to leave their homes.
