Three soldiers were killed and three remain missing after gunmen, believed to be members of a powerful Mexican drug cartel, fired at a military helicopter forcing the rotorcraft to make an emergency landing. Twelve people were wounded in the incident that took place in near the town of Autlan in the state of Jalisco.

In total, seven people were killed and 19 injured in Jalisco on Friday in violence which has escalated after the army launched an operation against the Jalisco New Generation gang.

Banks, gasoline stations and cars were set on fire in twenty-five cities across the state, including Mexico's second largest city of Guadalajara, amid clashes between gang members and the security forces.

The situation in the state is calm at the moment, according to local authorities.
