    The meeting comes as the EU is appointing its new top officials following the European parliamentary elections. Germany's Defence Minister Ursula von der Leyen was nominated as head of the European Commission, while Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel will chair the new European Council.

    German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Finnish Prime Minister Antti Rinne are holding a joint press conference following negotiations in Berlin. The politicians commented on the economic ties between the two countries, as well as on European relations and global issues.
