Tuesday, 4 June, marks the second day of US President Donald Trump's three-day visit to the United Kingdom during which the US president is expected to underscore the importance of the bilateral relationship between both countries amid concerns over Brexit and the UK Prime Minister Theresa May's recent resignation announcement.

Apart from the meeting with UK Prime Minister Theresa May, Trump met with local business leaders, including Barclays CEO Jes Staley, GlaxoSmithKline chief executive Emma Walmsley, BAE Systems chairman Sir Roger Carr, and the National Grid's John Pettigrew.

At the same time, London is hosting an anti-Trump protest, with thousands expected to take part in the rallies.

Participants of Anti-Trump Rally in London Share With Sputnik Their Reasons for Protesting

A Member of the Revolutionary Communist Group (RCG):

"We are here to project an anti-imperialist message. We are trying to show our solidarity with the people of Venezuela and with the people of Cuba, who are bravely resisting US imperialism in Latin America, trying to forge an independent path for their nations and to build socialism. And as socialists, we believe that it is an absolute duty of socialists everywhere to show their solidarity with the people of those nations and to say that the US imperialism must be defeated."

Answering the question what kind of foreign policy has Trump got and why should it be opposed specifically, RCG member said that it could be summarised by what his National Security Advisor, the war criminal, John Bolton said. He said: "We are not afraid to use the phrase Monroe Doctrine in the Trump administration".

"The Monroe Doctrine is the foreign policy pioneered by President Monroe, who was an early president of the US, who declared the Western Hemisphere, Latin America, is all part of the US hegemony and it belongs to them. It is their turf so to speak. And that is the way that Trump is treating that region of the world, which is not a departure from previous administration. They have all taken this belligerent interfering militaristic and hegemonic attitude towards Latin America. Trump is merely increasing the intensity of this reaction in this attack on any progressive movements in Latin America because US imperialism is in crisis. Their country is in crisis and they must re-assert their control over that hemisphere."

Another protestor, a feminist member of Socialist Resistance (SR) origanization, said that Trump is part of an international rising right-wing, which his followers have increased the amount of anti-Semitism and Islamophobia in the US.

"His whole entire discussion on immigration is him trying to divide working class people in Mexico and in the US. And then, of course, there is the attack on abortion rights, which he is facilitating by putting right-wing judges in and emboldening the anti-choice movement in the US."

"I mean the thing with Trump is that refugees, he doesn't even support the international obligations that we have to refugees. So this is why I am here. And also, he doesn't believe in climate change, which is another complete pile of crap. And we are kind of hoping that parts of the states that support him will start to see that. We will see Florida in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean or buried under water the way things are going," SR member said.

Member of the Committee in Solidarity with the People of the United States Against Trumpism (CISPUSAT):

"Most Americans are actually opposed to Trump and there is a massive anti-Trump resistance inside the US. And it is important for us not to be narrowly anti-American and to recognise that we should show solidarity with that US resistance. So this is a statement in solidarity with the US resistance."

"For all the reasons that people out here demonstrating: the misogyny, the racism, the xenophobia, him being a climate change denier, having gutted the EPA."

UK Labour Party Leader Corbyn is "Negative Force" - Trump

"I don't know Jeremy Corbyn, never met him, never spoke to him. He wanted to meet today or tomorrow and I decided that I would not do that," Trump said.

"I think that he is, from where I come from, somewhat of a negative force. I think that people should look to do things correctly as opposed to criticise. I really don't like critics as much as I like and respect people that get things done," Trump added.
