Under the reform, local hospitals that receive funding from the state budget must themselves determine the services of which patient-transporting agencies to use.
Paris saw a new wave of protests on Friday, with demonstrators partially blocking the Champs Elysees. They were protesting the reform approved by the French government on October 1 that forced local hospitals to make their own choice concerning patient-transport services provider.
