According to the website zougla.gr, a security guard saw two individuals on a motorcycle leave a bag at the stairs of the building. The blast occurred at 3:25 a.m. local time (01:25 GMT). Before the explosion, an unknown individual called the website's office to warn them about the bomb, after which police formed a cordon at the site. No injuries have been reported.

The explosion was heard throughout the city, and broke windows on six floors of the building. Mine clearance experts and a forensic team are now working at the blast site, the website reported.

The appeals court is located in the same building as the Greek Supreme Court, the Areopagus, near the police department.
No one has claimed responsibility for the incident so far.
