MOSCOW (Sputnik) – On Sunday, the Romanian citizens cast ballots to elect 466 lawmakers of the new convocation of the country's bicameral parliament, comprising of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate.
According to the CEB, some 46 percent of the voters supported the PSD in the election to both houses of the parliament, while only about 20 percent of the Romanian voters supported the National Liberal Party (PNL), which had come the second in the race.
In addition to the two above-mentioned parties, four other political movements are expected to be represented in the parliament, namely the Save Romania Union (USR), the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR), the Liberal Democratic Alliance (ALDE) and the Popular Movement Party (PMP), the CEB added.
The turnout in the election was 39.49 percent, according to the CEB.
