On Thursday night, President François Hollande addressed the nation asserting that he would not seek re-election.

In a stunning move, the deeply unpopular president will become the first French president since the second world war not to seek a second term in office.

His current approval rating have hovered between single digits and the mid teens.

"I decided not to be a presidential candidate, not to seek resuming my mandate," Hollande said, addressing the French people in the Elysee Palace.

He said that he made a lot of efforts to keep his pre-election promises but conceeded that there were some mistakes in how such were implemented.

Hollande has presided over a time when France has endured multiple terrorist attacks, including the November 2015 Paris attacks that killed 130 people. In July, a cargo truck drove into crowds celebrating Bastille Day in Nice, resulting in the deaths of 86 people.

In light of his low approval ratings, Hollande cited that politically his candidacy might have posed "risks" to the French left.

The French presidential election is scheduled for April and May 2017.

Prime Minister Manuel Valls and former economy minister Arnaud Montebourg are expected to compete to be at the top of the Socialist ticket.

penguins IN ANTARCTICA are known to be so devoted parents to their offspring...they will endure 4-5 months each of starvation, the fathers warming the eggs in winter which is when they hatch and feeding them what ''milk'' food is in their stomach until spring when the mothers come back from a hundred or more miles away in the sea fishing to take their turn....and the fathers take their turn to fish and eat and store food in their stomachs...

HOLLANDE is like the baby penguin that no mother or father would want...nothing more than a washington doormat....and all leaders like that aren't worth anything really.

He is not going for re-election because he knew he was going to be defeated real bad. His socialist liberal views have ruined his country now the people of France need to take back their country before it becomes a 3rd world nation he allowed migrants to come in France and take over , create many crimes and abuse the French welfare system. Now the people have to figure out how to unravel the mess he created. The people of France are saying....... We wholeheartedly refuse the liberal agenda. As a matter of fact the French people hate the liberal agenda and the polls show it.

No surprise there. A life in shame, Charles de Gaulle will most likely slap him hard on his way out.

And congratulations to the French who put enough pressure on him to get him out.

Merkel should do the same thing and withdraw her candidacy for the same reason. Merkel is not a conservative but one in the same group as Hollande. You can't tell the difference between the two just like in the US until Trump came around.

One of the henchmen of a failed social and geopolitical plot that Hitler and Churchill would have been astounded at.
He has finally realised that normal folk despise him for being a pathetic ankle tapper and worse a poor excuse for a human being a disgrace his parents surely would weep each day over his birth. (I didn't hold back hehe)
