A Syrian refugee was taken into police custody in Germany on suspicion of preparing a violent crime that posed threat to national security.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The 20-year-old man was captured over the weekend when he tried to cross into neighboring Denmark, the Bild newspaper said Thursday citing the state prosecutor’s office in Stuttgart.

The arrest was made after the suspect purchased materials used to build a weapon or a bomb, according to the outlet. Police searched his room in an asylum shelter in the southern German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg, although no findings were reported.
