About 125,000 households were left without electricity as the gusts of wind with the speed of up to 130 kilometers per hour (roughly 80 miles per hour) ravaged in northeast France, local media reported Sunday.

All Candidates Vote in First Round of French Republican Presidential Primaries
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Power cuts occured  in 35,000 households in the department of Pas-de-Calais, 15,000 — in Nord, and 40,000 in Normandie, the Ouest France news outlet reported, citing the Enedis energy company. According to the outlet, 18,700 households were also left without electricity in Bretagne and 16,500 — in Pays de la Loire.

Four departments in France have been reportedly placed on the next-to-highest orange alert level.

The storm may intervene in today's center-right vote for the candidate who will run for president as The Republicans party nominee in 2017 election.
