MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Police officers were sent to seven schools in Leipzig, the capital of the eastern state of Saxony, the local MDR radio reported. Police did not disclose the contents of the emails but said they were taken "very seriously."

Two gymnasiums were reportedly placed under police surveillance in Magdeburg, in the neighboring state of Saxony-Anhalt. One school was completely evacuated. According to the newest reports, police no longer believe that students are in danger.
Two schools were also reportedly affected in Goettingen in the northwestern state of Lower Saxony and in the southeastern town of Bayreuth in Bavaria.
