French National Front Leader Le Pen Calls EU Immigration Policy 'Irresponsible'

Marine Le Pen blamed the European Union for conducting a policy which triggers the migrant influx.

BRUSSELS (Sputnik) — The leader of a French National Front party, Marine Le Pen, slammed Wednesday the policy of the European Union regarding the recent influx of migrants into the bloc.

"Your irresponsible policy brings us more economic migrants," Le Pen said at the European Parliament plenary session.

She also said that, according to the EU statistics agency Eurostat, only 30 percent of the migrants that had arrived in the European Union were from Syria.

Europe is currently struggling to manage a massive refugee crisis, with hundreds of thousands of people leaving conflict-torn countries in the Middle East and North Africa to escape violence and poverty and seeking asylum in Europe.
