MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The president also stressed the necessity to completely dismantle the so-called Calais Jungle migrant camp.

"I want to express my determination to bring Britons to take part in the humanitarian activity France is carrying out [in Calais] and will continue to carry out tomorrow," he said.

The number of people living in the Calais camp are estimated to reach as many as 9,000. The camp is seen as a gateway to the United Kingdom by thousands of undocumented migrants.

French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve in early September announced his plan to fully dismantle the makeshift camp in Calais, sending migrants to other camps spread out across France and helping those eligible to move to the United Kingdom to go there.
