MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Embattled UK Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn said on Thursday he would be willing to extend the hand of friendship to his fellow members who rebelled against him.
"[As for] those that may not agree with me politically, may not even like me personally… I hold out the hand of friendship to them all," Corbyn said as he launched his bid to remain Labour leader.
In June, Corbyn lost a motion of no confidence among parliamentary party members and saw half of the shadow cabinet resign in protest at what they claimed was his inability to lead the main opposition party after Brexit. Corbyn refused to resign and said he would take stand in the party leadership election on August 22.
Aside from Corbyn, former Shadow Secretary of State for Work and Pensions Owen Smith has made a bid for the Labour leadership.
