EU Commission Says Progress on Migrant Deal With Turkey Remains 'Fragile'
BRUSSELS (Sputnik) — Avramopoulos added that Turkey and the European Union were working together to accomplish the goal.

"There are still some benchmarks from the Turkish side, they work on that. I can tell you that they have given spectacular results so far, 65 out of 72 benchmarks have already been met," Avramopoulos told reporters.

In March, Brussels and Ankara agreed on a deal under which Turkey pledged to take back all undocumented migrants who arrive in the European Union through its territory in exchange for Syrian refugees accommodated in Turkey. In return, the bloc pledged to accelerate the Turkish EU accession bid and introduce a visa-free regime.
