According to the German Bild newspaper, German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere said that his government agency had not got any signs of possible terrorist attacks during the sports event. The newspaper added that the interior ministry had received a huge number of messages about possible attacks, which were thoroughly examined, but there threats had not confirmed.
The French Interior Ministry responsible for overall Euro-2016 security pledged to dispatch over 87,000 security staff in order to ensure the safety of sportsmen and fans, including 42,000 policemen, 30,000 gendarmes, 10,000 military personnel and more than 5,000 civil security agents.
On Friday, UEFA’s Euro 2016 kicked off in France. The largest European sports event for national teams is due to end on July 10.
