MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Ukrainian Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelyan and Greek Deputy Minister of Infrastructure, Transport and Networks Marina Chrysoveloni discussed the possibility of creating a ferry service between the two countries during their meeting in Odessa on Wednesday, the press service of the Ukrainian Ministry said in a statement published on its website.

"The parties discussed the possibility of establishing a ferry service between Ukraine and Greece. According to Volodymyr Omelyan, the implementation of such a project has a high trade-economic potential for both countries," the statement read.

Omelyan also noted that Kiev was interested in expanding bilateral cooperation with Greece to include matters such as bringing the legislation in accordance with the European Union (EU) requirements regarding the development of port infrastructure and safety of navigation.

Ukrainian government set its course towards the European Union, and on May 21 Vice-Prime Minister for European integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze said Kiev expected Brussels to establish visa-free travel regime between Ukraine and the 28-nation bloc in the autumn.
