As many as 50 people were rescued on Sunday from a vessel taking on water near the UK Isles of Scilly, local media reported.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the Metro newspaper, the boat was carrying 48 passengers and two crew members.

"All passengers have been taken off the vessel safely and a salvage pump put aboard. The vessel is currently under tow by the lifeboat into St Mary’s Harbour," HM Coastguard said in a statement.

According to the coastguard, search and rescue helicopters participated in the operation.
