MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The payment of such re-immigration benefits is eligible to a select group of refugees and to people who had worked in the Northern European country for at least eight years and have now returned to their home states, the Nu.nl news portal reported. The benefit is only applicable to those whose income in their home country is below the local minimum income requirements.
According to the media, the Netherlands paid almost 34 million euros ($38.8million) of such benefits to people of 79 nationalities last year, including to 2,800 Turkish nationals. In 2011, the amount stood at some 22 million euros.
The Dutch authorities have ruled to discontinue the payment of the benefit to foreigners by 2025.
