MOSCOW (Sputnik) — German intelligence services are currently monitoring activities of about 90 Islamic mosques amid a high terror threat in the country, the head of the German Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution said Monday.
"We are closely monitoring about 90 Muslim communities of mosques in Germany, predominantly those which speak Arabic," Hans-Georg Maassen told the ARD broadcaster in an interview.
He specified that the mosques in question had the so-called backyards, where imams and emirs were delivering speeches to incite jihad.
In April, Berlin issued arrest warrants for 76 militants of the Islamic State, also known as Daesh, jihadist group (banned in Russia), who were ready to commit a crime.
