CHISINAU (Sputnik) — The rally staged by the center-right opposition Civic Platform Dignity and Truth (DA) also calling for the country’s leadership to hold early parliamentary elections simultaneously with the presidential ones on October 30.
Local police do not have exact information on the number of participants, but the DA previously estimated that tens of thousands Moldovans would take part in the protest.
No incidents or scuffles with law enforcement have been reported yet.
Chisinau has been swept in rallies since September 2015, when the coalition of opposition forces demanded the resignation of the Moldovan president, the prime minister and the chief prosecutor, as well as prompt action to tackle corruption.
