DONETSK (Sputnik) – The Kiev forces are plotting terrorist attacks on the Ukrainian southeastern city of Mariupol, the self-proclaimed eastern Ukrainian Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) official said Thursday.
"According to our intelligence, Ukrainian command is preparing a series of terrorist attacks on its territory. Chemical sites in the city of Mariupol have been prepared for detonation," DPR Deputy Defense Minister Eduard Basurin told reporters.
Kiev authorities launched a military operation against independence militias in Eastern Ukraine in April 2014. Mariupol was one of the cities disputed by the parties of the conflict.
The confrontation has claimed over 9,000 lives, according to the UN estimates.
