Snipers to Patrol Paris Stadium During France-Russia Football Match

Sharp shooters will take positions around the Stade de France stadium in the French capital during the upcoming football match between France and Russia, the French National Police’s Central Directorate of Public Security Deputy Director Laurent Simon said Monday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The French official added that 400 police officers will be deployed to patrol the friendly match, which will be held Tuesday.

"Snipers will be around the stadium, while the soldiers of the elite police unit will be located on the arena," Simon said, as quoted by the BFMTV broadcaster.

Additional security measures come after a series of deadly attacks on several venues in Paris, including the Stade de France, on November 13, 2015. The assaults claimed the lives of 130 people and injured over 350.
