MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia and the United States reached an agreement on the ceasefire in Syria. The cessation of hostilities took effect at midnight on February 27, Damascus time, generally holding across the country despite reported minor violations.
"Preliminary agreements on ceasefire have been reached with the elders of two settlements in the Hama province in 24 hours," the statement, posted on the website of the Russian defense Ministry, said.
Overall the number of settlements with which ceasefire deals has been reached stands at 42.
"There are negotiations taking place with the leaders of three armed groups in the city of Aleppo," the statement continued.
