The suspect reportedly influenced Almani with "propaganda videos of Salafi-jihadist orientation," helped the attacker to obtain military ammunition and supported him financially, including buying him a ticket to reach area controlled by Daesh, where he arrived in October 2014.
The German law enforcement said that the suicide bomber was "mentally limited and easily influenced," and the investigators were checking whether the suspect deliberately used Almani over his mental issues.
Daesh, jihadist group outlawed in Russia and many other countries, is notorious for using all available means of propaganda to recruit foreigners. The group controls large territories in Syria and Iraq, expanding its influence to other countries in the Middle East and North Africa.
