Norway, Russia Have Shared Understanding of Refugee Problem - Oslo
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — More than 800 of asylum seekers in Norway has withdrawn their applications and decided to leave the country due to the "unrealistic perceptions," media reported.

"We assume that many of them had an unrealistic and erroneous perception of the types of opportunities they would have in Norway. Probably those who do not have a need for protection release that there is little to gain in having their asylum applications processed here," The Local reported, citing head of the Directorate of Immigration (UDI) returns unit, Katinka Hartmann.

According to Hartmann, the majority of people, who withdrew their applications, return to their home countries, mostly conflict-torn Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan, and others try to seek asylum in EU countries.

Norway took in some 30,000 refugees in 2015 amid the global refugee crisis.
