A bomb squad was called Tuesday to the Arlanda airport in the Swedish capital of Stockholm after a suspicious object was found in a trash bin nearby, police said.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The small package was discovered by airport’s security guards in a rubbish bin outside the building, the police statement read.

“The assessment was made that experts should look at it [package] more closely before it is removed,” police explained, adding that a forensic team has already started investigating the find.

"Bomb alert at the airport!" the tweet reads.

Police cordoned off the garage area where the package was discovered. They assured travelers that security measures will not affect air traffic or the work of the nearby terminals.

Local media reported that passengers were not able to access terminals 2 or 3 directly from the sealed-off car park.
